Direct Debit FAQs

We’re delighted that you’re interested in joining us for lessons at the National Ice Centre. Whether you’re looking to develop your skating, hockey, speed, or skills, or looking to join unlimited practice ice, we’re thrilled to support your journey on the ice.

Before you get started, please take a moment to familiarise yourself with the key information about your Direct Debit. If you have any questions or concerns, our team is here to help. You can reach us at [email protected], and we’ll be happy to assist. Please note that all enquiries have a 48‑hour response time, although we always aim to reply as quickly as possible.

Getting Started ⛸️

To join our general, hockey, speed, or tots skating lessons, simply visit our Skating Lessons Portal and select Book Skating Lessons. Follow the on‑screen instructions to log in or create an account, complete your pro‑rata payment, and confirm your booking.
Your first lesson will automatically begin on the next available start date, unless a different date is offered at checkout. If you are looking to book onto our Skating Skills or Unlimited Practice Ice programme, please follow the link and information here.

  • Tots – £42 per month
  • Skating, Hockey, Speed – £60 per month
  • Skating Skills – £80 per month
  • Unlimited Practice Ice – £150 per month
  • Your lesson direct debit includes one 30‑minute lesson per week plus unlimited public skating.
  • Your skills direct debit includes a 45‑minute off‑ice session, a 45‑minute on‑ice session, plus unlimited public skating.
  • Your practice‑ice direct debit entitles you to unlimited practice ice only.

We recommend that all skaters book onto Level 1 as this allows our coaches to assess your ability and place you in the most suitable level if needed.  If you have previously taken SKATE UK lessons at another rink, you may continue at your current level. However, if you are following a different skills programme, or you are already confident with elements such as jumps, spins, or similar skills, please email the team for further assistance.

We offer free skate hire for general skating, tots and speed skating lessons. For hockey lessons, we cannot loan or hire out equipment, so you must provide your own before your first session. For skills classes and practice ice, you will need to use your own skates.

General lessons are taught in group settings with a mix of ages and abilities, whereas hockey lessons are divided into child and adult groups. Skills classes are also group-based but split by age: Ice Cubs (6–12), Juniors (12–17), and Adults (18+).
