Nottingham team announced for World Synchronized Skating Championships
The National Ice Centre is proud to be the home training ground of the official GBR team competing at this year’s World Synchronized Skating Championships.
British Ice Skating (BIS) announced the exciting news that the Senior Icicles, from the Nottingham Synchronized Skating Academy (NSSA) had been selected to compete in the major international event.
This year’s Championships are set to take place from 12 to 13 April, in Helsinki in Finland. It will see synchronized skating teams from across the globe come together to compete for the gold, silver and bronze medals.
The NSSA are based at the National Ice Centre in Nottingham and are comprised of eight squads and around 100 talented skaters. The announcement comes as the second piece of exciting news for the academy, after the Junior Icicles squad were confirmed as the GBR entry for the World Junior Synchronized Skating Championships – taking place in Switzerland in March.
Synchronized Skating is the fastest growing figure skating discipline, involving teams of 12 to 16 skaters skating in formation while performing intricate routines to music.
